So long time no blog but I'm back again. It's been a good week. I got a new job! I'm still working at Broadway Lounge but since it's not your ideal job and the money is shit, I decided to look for yet another one. It happened last sunday when me and the roomies went out to a pub here in Newtown. I ran into a friend of theirs named Adam. We started talking and he said it could hook me up with a job trial at the bar where he's currently working. The next day I got a call from him, scheduled a trial and BAM I got myself another job. It's in Surry Hills and the bar is called Trinity bar. Seems like a really nice cool place. Two floors, one bar downstairs which serve mostly beer and wine, the bar upstairs is more of an cocktail lounge. I think i'll be working upstairs most of the time. During the job trial I had two make all kinds of cocktails and I think it went really well. Last Tuesday we had a whiskey traning. It was held by a guy who if you ask my opinion was a Orlando Bloom look-a-like. It was heaps of fun partially due to the whiskey of course but it was very educating at the same time. Anyhow I got myself a nice certificate out of it.
Oh I forgot to tell you guys how my party went. It was awesome. I think at one point there were probably around 40-45 people in our house. People really put an effort in dressing up, alot of geeks and some freaks. I felt kinda bad that I didn't dress up, being the birthday girl and all. But it was a great turnout. The house was a mess the morning after, I think the last guests left around 7-8 in the morning. I felt bad for Carolina, who had to get to work at 8 in the morning, running into drunk people in the bathroom.
I had a busy day today, running around town, getting my australian credit card and medical card. I did some shopping too, well if you count a 2 dollar hairspray and 1 dollar socks as shopping. Then I manage to get myself run over by a guy on a skateboard. My foot is okey but my shoe is not. I might need to do some shoe shopping soon. With that said I off doing some laundry downstairs. Hanning the clothes up where the rest of the house smokes might not be the best idea but whatever. I'll update with some juciy details later. Here's some random pictures. Ciao.´ Last but not least, I'll give you my lastest discovery of the music scene
Finally I have time to sit down and write, it's been a hectic couple of days. But it paid off. I started my first job at "The Broadway Lounge" a bar/restaurant in Broadway not far from the city or Newtown for that matter. It took us a couple of interviews before we got here. The first job offer we got was at a brothel. I'm not kidding you. The guy who interviewed us told us that our only task was to "entertain" the customers. He also told us that when the customers drink, you guys drink. That's your only job. Carolina and I looked at each other "we'll we're good at that". But after explaning the meaning of a "sugar daddy" we decided that this job was not for us. You could make up to 800 dollars a night tho...hmm. Just kidding clearly it's not for us. The second interview I had was at this really really fancy italian restaurant right by the water in Darling Harbour. The manager was so hot, so hot i couldn't focus on anything else and...okey not the point, the interview was really intense, I had to mention all the ingredients in all kinds of drinks at the top of my head and then go behind the bar and make them all. Which I did really well I must say. No mistakes. Anyway in the end me and Carolina got a job as bartenders/waitresses at The Broadway Lounge. I like it more and more. It's cool, relaxed and the people are really nice. The money is not too die for and it's cash-in-hand but hey it's a job.
I like Sydney better and better for every day that goes by. You meet so many new people, there's always something to do and they have the world's best kebabs. Well maybe the second greatest, the grec in Paris is still number one. The weather is strange, raining one day and tropical heat the other. Summer is in the air tho and I can't wait to go to the beach.
My birthday is on Friday. 23 f*cking years old. I feel old. The bouncers at the clubs think I look like 16. That actually makes me feel a bit better. My big party is on Friday, me and the flatties are throwing a huge off the roof muthaf*cking party. After only being here less then a month, I'm proud to say that my guestlist came up to almost 20 people, after that I made my two roomies admins and we have now invited around 70 people. I can't wait, it's just one thing tho, I'm scheduled to work from 7 to midnight on Friday. How bad would it be if the guest of honor missed her own party? It's sure wouldn't be the first time i've done it. I missed my 21st bday party in Paris beacuse of work. I will try to get the night off this time, things are looking quite bright for me.
Whatelse...I started watching not one not two but three new shows. Make sure you check out "The Playboy Club", "New Girl" and "2 Broke Girls", the last mention is basically about me and Carolina.
Since Carolina is the one taking pictures i'll have to wait and give you a photo update later.
You can't go to any pub,bar or club in Sydney and not here this song repeatedly.
Can't help feeling a little bit proud...well at least it looks important. 12 hours did not go by fast. Had a lovley dinner at Scruffy Murphy's Met up with Gary at Side bar. Played some pool with the flatmates. Me and Collin made an awesome team, altough I never achieved to put any balls in the hole, I was a very cheerful team mate. Beatuiful Kylie in blue. (Btw we had out job interview last night and it went well. The very cute manager told us that he was keen on getting us a job trial. He said we should expect a call within a couple of days)
What I productive day! We woke up early and headed out to the work and travel center, printed out our CV's and booked our RSA and RCG classes. We got one 6 hour class tomorrow morning and one on Thursday. We gave out our resumes to a couple of bars in the city and BAM 30 minutes later, we both got ourself a job interview on Thursday night. It's a bar called "side bar" in the city. We been there once and it seems like a cool place, one of those hiphop and R&B joints. We super excited. The rest of the day was spent by the opera house, lunch at sumosalads and strolling down the botonic garden. Now dinner and a movie. Here's some pictures.
Mondy and back to reality. Today we're going to get our RSA or at least try too. Then all we have to do is print out our resumes and start job hunting. I think we'll also squeez in some sightseeing as we haven't seen the opera house nor that famous bridge yet. The weekend was great, dinner at Isabel's place on Satuday followed by a house warming party at our new place. First it was just Me, Carro, Isabel and her friend Rika but after awhile the whole house joined in with some of their friends. After that we went in to the city, to Scubar and later we hit the cross. The night was spent at Danny's and when I got home on Sunday I happened to walk straight into my roomate Mike's BBQ. After some delicious food we all went to Kelly's to watch the rugby game. People kept looking at me funny when I yelled "touchdown". Apperently I don't know the rules of rugby. The rest of the evening was spent on our padio for some more chatting and laugther. Monday was spent shopping, cooking food and watching multiple episode of friends. Anyway I better get going and i'll report back to you guys later.
